GERTES® Etiquette

People are different, but when using GERTES® the following general guidelines may make the experience better for you and others:

Probably DO set an expected response-time on an email if you want to and:

  • You are inquiring about another organization's or individual's product or service

  • You are asking friends, family, colleagues or people you already have a good relationship with to answer a question or generally respond to your email within a certain time frame
Probably DON'T set an expected response-time on an email when:

  • You are making an unsolicited request for another person to take an interest in a product or service you are offering. They may "get annoyed that you are demanding a response" to something they didn't ask for first— even though they can change the expected response dot to "No Expected Response Time", "No Response Will Be Given" or "No Response Will Be Given - Unsubscribe".

A worse-case scenario in the above example could be that the person may classify your email as a "Hawk Email" from within the GERTES system. Reporting a "Hawk Email" is similar to reporting spam. GERTES accounts are subject to suspension after 3 hawk complaints.
